James Dean Allen

January 1, 1964 – March 20, 2019

James Dean Allen, age 55, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, in the Ponca City.

Family with be at Trout Funeral Home Sunday March 24, 2019 2 pm- 4pm to meet with family and friends, in remembrance of Dean Allen.

Services will be held at 2 o’clock p.m., Monday, March 25, 2019, at Ponca City Assembly, 2313 East Prospect, Ponca City, Oklahoma, with Pastor DeWayne Bardwell and Reverend Robert Johnson officiating.

Dean was born on January 1, 1964, to Pat and Darlene Allen in San Pablo, California. He attended Higher Heights Christian School in Concord, California. In 1976, his family moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma, where he attended Blackwell Junior High School, and then Blackwell Christian Academy, where he graduated in 1982. He also attended Friends Bible College in Haviland, Kansas.

Dean married Kathy White in 1983 and from that union they had a son, Austin Dean Allen. Dean was employed with Walmart in Blackwell until 1994, when he moved his family to Idaho. In Idaho he was employed at Sears and Sound Decision Car Audio, Unikey Health and Post Falls Mazda. In 2003, the family moved back to Oklahoma. When he returned to Oklahoma, Dean was employed with the Opportunity Center and SCL, until he was forced to retire in 2014 due to his health.

In 2018, Dean married the love of his life, Denise Earls, at the Marland Mansion in Ponca City. They resided in Ponca City.

Dean had a passion for music his entire life. He played in church and charity events and benefits. He was the lead singer for the band Funkdafied. Dean loved playing music with his son, Austin. He taught Austin to play the drums. Austin would play the drums while Dean played the guitar.

Dean loved to make people laugh. He was loving and had a gentle and tender heart. He never met a stranger. He knew and loved many people, and was loved by many people. He enjoyed entertaining people whether it was one-on one or in front of a crowd. He always had a story. Dean loved cookies. He loved his Grandma Helen’s cinnamon rolls. Dean loved to play basketball, and loved to watch sports of any kind.

Before the age of five, Dean thought he had a brother from another mother, his cousin Brian Wiseman. The boys were always together.

Surivors include his wife, Denise Allen of the home, son Austin Allen, of Ponca City, his grandson, Dawson Allen of Rathdrum, Idaho, grandson Anthony Parks of Edmond, Oklahoma; grandson, Aztlan Guerrero, grandson Temo Guerrero, and granddaughter Azalea Guerrero, of Ottawa, Kansas; Dean’s mother, Darlene LaBlue, and husband Jim LaBlue. He is also survived by his brother, Deon Allen and wife Sarah, of Stillwater, Oklahoma; brother, Jimmie LaBlue, Jr. and wife Stacy Lablue of Ponca City; sister, Tammy Amoroso and husband Tommy, of Georgia; daughter, Jennifer Guerrero, of Ponca City. He is survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and cousins.

Preceding in death were his father Pat Allen, July 2009; grandfather W. A. Wright, 2009, and grandmother Helen Wright, 2012.

Pallbearers are Randy Jackson, Ken Kilpatrick, John Simpson, Gary Wilson, Ryan Burkett, and Cory Burkett.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Ponca City Assembly, 2313 E Prospect, Ponca City, OK 74604, to purchase new microphones for the praise and worship team. Dean had a heart for worship ministry.
