Obituary for J.P. McBride

J.P. McBride of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, October 10, 2014, at his residence in Blackwell at the age 82 years.
J.P. McBride was born on July 27, 1932, in Pocassett, Oklahoma. He was the son of Arthur and Edith (Whitley) McBride. He grew up on a farm near Pocassett, Oklahoma, attending rural schools. Following his education he moved to Blackwell and began working as a pressman for the Blackwell Journal Tribune. He later moved to Texas and continuing working as a pressman. He married Antoinette “Toni” McBride, to this union four children were born Randy, Sherry, Michael and David. They later moved to Colorado where he worked for The Rocky Mountain News retiring from there. In 1999 Toni preceded him in death and he moved back to Blackwell to be near family. On June 8, 2000, he married June (Mardis) Vermillion and they made their home in Blackwell. He enjoyed traveling and driving anything with wheels on it.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy McBride; and infant sister, JoAnn.
He is survived by his wife June McBride of Blackwell, Oklahoma; two sons, Michael McBride of Denver, Colorado, and David McBride and wife Vicki of Clinton, Missouri; one daughter, Sherry Dahl and husband Skip of Arlington, Texas; six grandchildren, Cassie, Kayle, Kyle, Geoffrey, Rhianna, and Zachary; two great grandchildren, Hannah, and Cory Jean; one step-son, John Riley and wife Deborah of Blackwell, Oklahoma; four step-daughters, Diana Cook and husband Leon of Ponca City, Oklahoma, Linda Ketchum and husband Jim of Nowata, Oklahoma, Shari Clark of Blackwell, Oklahoma, and Judy Edwards and husband Mark of Parsons, Kansas; numerous step-grandchildren, numerous step- great grandchildren; and three brothers, James McBride of Blackwell, Oklahoma, Donald McBride and wife Rita of Arkansas City, Kansas, and Doug McBride and wife Kathy of Arkansas City, Kansas.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel, with Chaplain Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Timmy McBride, Jimmy McBride, Doug McBride, John Riley, Ronnie Smith and Matt Cook.
