Irene Lillian Pagel
March 4, 1931 – December 7, 2022
Irene Lillian Page, 91, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at the OU Medical Center after a brief illness. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N 7th St, Perry, OK 73077.
Irene was born to Lee and Emillie (Wierzba) Rupp on March 4, 1931 in Perry, Oklahoma. She graduated from Sumner Public School.
She married the love of her life, Walter Christian Pagel on March 11, 1951 at the Zion Lutheran Church in Perry, Oklahoma. They were married 57 years before his passing. With this marriage they were blessed with two children, Wayne and Nancy.
Irene worked at Southwestern Bell before she had children and then became a stay-at-home mom. When her children got older, she began working part time for the Selective Service and for Permanent Cookware. She had numerous jobs from working for Buddy Warren, Best Yet, a dry-cleaning business, and Homeland as a deli server. She worked until her mid 80’s when her macular degeneration got worse. She hated to quit because she loved working with her co-workers and she loved seeing the people she knew and didn’t know. She loved to visit with family, friends and acquaintances. She was a great cook and always had tons of food available to eat. She loved to grocery shop and could tell you the price of everything she bought. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She was a long-time member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Perry.
Irene leaves behind her children, Wayne (Diana) Pagel and Nancy (Jim) Stock; grandsons, Curt, Brad, and Mike Stock, and Shawn Pagel (girlfriend, Denver Berumen and children, Addy and Kennedy); great grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Emily and Peyton Stock, and Taylor Collier; sister, Alice Kopp; brother, Robert (Dorothy) Rupp; and brother-in-law, Melvin Williams.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter; grandson, Adam Pagel; brother, Art (Charlotte) Rupp; sister, Evelyn Williams; and brother-in-law, Fred Kopp. Memorials can be made to the Christ Lutheran Church, 1301 N. 7th St., Perry, OK 73077 or the charity of your choice.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Grace Hill Cemetery in Perry, Oklahoma.
There is no public viewing.
