Homer David Slief
(October 4, 1929 – November 14, 2015)
Homer David Slief, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Alliance Health Center in Ponca City. He was 86.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 1:00PM Friday, November 20, 2015 at the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church with Rev. James Riggs officiating. He will be buried privately at Resthaven Memorial Park prior to the memorial ceremony. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Homer was born on October 4, 1929 to Walter Slief and Anna Webb in Wellsford, KS. He graduated high school from Pratt, Kansas and later received his Bachelors Degree from Kansas State University. Homer was married to Elizabeth Ann Axline on August 13, 1949 in Pratt, KS. In 1951, he started his service to the United States in the Navy, serving in Bath, Maine from 1951 to 1955. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he joined Continental Pipeline in Ponca City, working there from 1955 to 1973. Then, he moved to Tulsa and worked for Crest Engineering from 1973 to 1991 and returned to Ponca City in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Ann Slief of Ponca City, daughter Sara Kreger, son David Slief and wife Le, four grandsons, 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers: Earle, Laurence, and Forrest; as well as his son-in-law Calvin Kreger.
