November 23, 1942 – February 29, 2024

Helton Carroll Shaw, 81, of Ponca City, OK, went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 29, 2024. Viewing will be from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024, and from 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM, Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at Trout Funeral Home. A Funeral Ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 5, 2024 at Eastern Heights Christian Church with Pastor Matthew Barrie officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Carroll was born on November 23, 1942, in Hobart, OK, to John Helton and Ruby Mae (Betts) Shaw. Carroll grew up in Hobart, OK, and attended Hobart High School. He met the love of his life, Dorothy Moody (his angel without wings), in Washunga, OK. They were married on November 20, 1962, in Pawhuska, OK, spending 61 wonderful years together. From this union, three beautiful children were born into and raised in a very close family. He was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren. A truck driver by trade, he loved his career most when the grandkids could go for a ride in the “Big Truck”. He loved a good game of moon (dominos) and all of the children and grandchildren have fond memories of “shooting the moon” with him.

Carroll was an avid lover of chocolate and ice cream. He loved cooking and eating (especially Dorothy’s pies) and celebrating life. He enjoyed fishing and frying up catfish and loved to make everyone laugh with his orneriness. His strong faith in God led him to share the word with his loved ones and friends, even to the time he left this world to be with Lord.

Carroll is survived by: his wife, Dorothy, of the home; son, Lonnie Shaw of Oklahoma City, OK; daughters, Teresa King and her husband, Sonny, of Ponca City, OK, Pam Baker and her husband, Kevin, of Ponca City, OK; grandchildren; Jake Shultz and his wife, Kimberly, of Greeley, CO, Amanda Dronberger and her husband, Derek, of Ponca City, OK, Zach Baker and his wife, Kayla, of Wichita, KS, Nick Baker and his wife, Karli, of Ponca City, OK, and Luke Summers of Wagoner, OK; great-grandchildren, Sawyer Baker, Alexandria Dronberger, Berkley Baker, Macy Dronberger and Corbyn Baker (due in April); siblings, Johnny Shaw of Pond Creek, OK; Mary Cooper and her husband, Jim, of Louisiana, Aileen Easter, Bobby Shaw, Pat Winkleman, Patricia Hopkins, Bill Winkleman, Jerry Winkleman, Terry Winkleman; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved in-laws. Carroll was preceded in death by: his parents, John and Ruby Shaw; great-grandson, Zaden Dronberger; siblings, Alene Forney, Vernell Lanford, Alva Overstreet and Morris Shaw.

Pallbearers will be Zach Baker, Derek Dronberger, Nick Baker, Luke Summers, Kevin Baker, Jake Shultz, and Sonny King. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Eastern Heights Christian Church, 5100 Lake Rd, Ponca City, OK 74604.
