April 19, 1931 – April 6, 2023

Harold Leo Opitz died April 6, 2023, in Ponca City, OK. He was 91.

Harold was born on April 19, 1931, to Martin and Nell (Edwards) Opitz in Anadarko, OK. He grew up with five siblings – Elizabeth, Ethelyn, Loretta, Bill, and John. On February 1, 1961, he married Ila Mae (Cadenhead) in Ponca City, OK.

Harold retired as a machinist for Nickles Machine, after working there for several years. In his spare time, he liked hunting and woodworking, making several things for his friends and family. His favorite pastime was watching westerns, and he also enjoyed going to the McCord Senior Citizens Center to eat lunch and visit with others.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ila Mae Opitz (November 27, 2012); parents Martin and Nell Opitz; siblings Elizabeth Lecthenberg, Ethelyn Robbins, Loretta Evans, Bill Opitz, and John Opitz.

He is survived by his children Bonnie and husband Tom Troutt of Paris, TX, James Opitz and wife Laura of Weatherford, OK, Paula McKee and husband Ted of Ponca City, OK, and Patricia Kletke of Alva, OK; ten grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will be having a private burial, and a memorial will be held at a later date.
