Gilbert Domeny

October 28, 1942 – June 20, 2019

Gilbert LeRoy Domeny, age 76, resident of Cookville, TN, formerly of Pawnee, OK , passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019 in Cookville, TN.

A graveside ceremony to celebrate his life will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, June 28, 2019 at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City with Pastor Tom Howard officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Gilbert was born on October 28, 1942 Elmer and Wilma Domeny in Pawnee, OK. He was raised north of Pawnee. After high school, Gilbert joined the U.S. Army. He served in the Army for twenty years with most if his time being stationed in Germany. After his time in the military, Gilbert moved to Georgia to be somewhere warm. There he did seasonal work at H & R Block, and small engine repair. More recently, he moved to Cookville to be near his son. Gilbert enjoyed tinkering with mechanical matters and had unique nicknames for his grandchildren and nieces with whom he liked to spend time.

Survivors include his son Joe Smith and wife Amanda of Lancing, TN, daughters Vickie Smith of Lancing, TN, Beth Jarvis and husband Kevin of Ellabell, GA, sisters: Miriam Harrison and husband John of Cushing, OK, Lila Cates and husband Malvin of Cushing, OK, as well as Valeria Portman of Durant, OK, as well as his beloved sister in law Martha, his late wife’s twin, granddaughter Stacy Marquez and husband Ray of Richmond Hill, GA, grandsons Shane Smith and wife Emily of New Lisbon, WI, Zachariah Smith and wife Lela of Lancing, TN, great grandsons Logan Smith of New Lisbon, WI, Connor McNew of Lancing, TN, great granddaughters Alyssa Marquez of Richmond Hill, GA, Evelyn Smith of New Lisbon, WI, Chymera Rosenbalm of Lancing, TN.

Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mary, stepmother Leota Brien, brothers Elmer Domeny, Jr., and Roger Domeny, as well as his sister Loretta Reisch.
