Geraldine “Gerry” Wente
April 21, 1928 – April 8, 2020
Geraldine “Gerry” Hopkins Wente went to be with Jesus on April 8, 2020 at the age of 91. Geraldine was born in Ketchum, OK to Florence Webb and Orville Richardson on April 21, 1928. She attended Ketchum school and graduated in 1946. There she met her husband, Earl and they were married on May 15, 1946. They made their home in the Vinita area until they moved to Ponca City, OK in 1967, then moving to Blackwell in 1968. They had five children: Maxine Altebaumer, Ronnie Hopkins, Janet Crowe, Randy Hopkins and Jeff Hopkins. She and Earl were married for 56 years until his passing.
On October 11, 2008 she married William “Bill” Wente.
Gerry worked many years in the manufacturing business. She retired from Southwest Cupid in Blackwell. After that she worked taking care of people in Home Health. She also volunteered delivering meals on wheels and worked in Deer Creek at the food pantry. She attended the Church of Christ in Blackwell where everyone there was part of her family. She loved her family and her garden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl, two sons, Randy and Jeff, a step-son, David, great grandson, Khason Bonine, two brothers, Jay and Louis Richardson, one sister, Juanita Hopkins, one son-in-law and two daughters-in law.
She is survived by her husband, Bill, daughters, Maxine and Janet, one son, Ronnie and his wife, Priscilla, one step son, John and his wife, Linda, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and her church family.
