Georgia Mae Farrington

Georgia Mae Farrington of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday, October 3, 2015, in the Brookdale Senior Living Center in Derby, Kansas, at the age of 96 years.
Georgia Mae Farrington was born on March 17, 1919, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Arthur Eugene and Louise (Jameson) Johns. As a young girl she moved with her family to Pittsburgh, Kansas, and at the age of nine they returned and she attended Blackwell Public Schools. Following her education she married Theodore Z. Farrington on March 17, 1937, in Arkansas, and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. Her husband preceded her in death on May 12, 1985, and she continued to make Blackwell her home until the summer of 2015 when she moved to Derby, Kansas. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sewing and gardening. She also enjoyed music and dancing. She was a member of the Rebekkah’s Lodge and held several offices in the organization. She also held membership in the Progressive Garden Club and served as a Blackwell Hospital Volunteer.
She is survived by a son, Danny Farrington of Blackwell; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Farrington of Derby, Kansas; five grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Floyd Allen Farrington; three sisters, Margarette Clark, Ruth Fearmonti and Anna Coleman; and four brothers, David, Eugene, Frank and Edward Johns.
Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 9th in the Victory Fellowship Church in Blackwell with Rev. Carolyn Rickner officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Scott Farrington, Mark Farrington, James Farrington, Lonnie Johns, Harry Rowe and Terry Fiscus.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Salvation Army in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
