George Frederick VonBieberstein – Veteran

(August 14, 1929 – March 6, 2017)

George Frederick (Fred) Von Bieberstein, age 87, Ponca City resident, passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at his residence. Fred was born August 14, 1929 in Tulsa, OK, to George Frederick and Marcile Shelton Von Bieberstein. He went to school as Cashion Hall in Tulsa, OK, and graduated in 1948. After graduation, he went to work for Arabian American Oil Company in Saudi Arabia.

He Joined the Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He then attended Oklahoma A & M college for several years, then returned to work for Arabian American Oil Co. He met Mildred “Millie” Lumley Born on one of his vacation leaves from Arabia. They married on July 17, 1957 in Tulsa, OK and had been married for 56 years at the time of her death. Fred retired from the Arabian American Oil Co. and moved to Phoenix AZ and went to work for American Express. Fred an Millie moved to Ponca City for Millie to care for her older sibling sister. Fred went to work Conoco Oil Co. He retired from Conoco after 16 years of service.

Fred was a member of the VFW, American Legion, the Masonic Lodge in California, as well as a member of the Shriners organization in California. Fred was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Tulsa.

Survivors include his nieces Betty Jo Dickson and sons of Mooresville, NC, Barbara Snyder and husband David and family of Ponca City, his very dear friends of 30 years Mary Ann and Dennis Beets and children of Ponca City. He was preceded in death by his wife Mildred, his parents and his aunt Mae Jean Shelton

Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home on Sunday, March 12 from 1-8PM. A funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 13, 2017 in the Chapel at Trout Funeral Home & Crematory with Chaplain Mike Sweetman officiating. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest with U.S. Marine Corps Honors at Odd Fellows cemetery next to his beloved wife Mildred.
