Obituary for George “Carl” Burries

George "Carl" Burries passed away on Sunday May 3, 2015. He was 84 years of age Carl was born on November 10, 1930. in Cedarvale, KS. The son of Azberry and Lillie Huddle Burries. He married Joanne "Jody" Hedrick on August 9, 1951 and they had three children, Carla Bodenstein, Jerry Burries and Scott Burries. Carl was a member of the Faith Tabernacle Church.
Carl served in the Air Force for two and a half years. He then worked for Boeing Aircraft and 18 years for Mauer Neuer Packing Plant in Ark City, KS. Later he was a rancher and order buyer of livestock till his declining health. As a young man, Carl loved to ride bareback horses and bulls. He road in the Cheyenne Frontier Days. He was also a cardholder of the PRCA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Joe and Billy Burries, and Granddaughter Krista Burries Stierwalt.
He is survived by his wife of the home, one daughter Carla Bodenstein and husband H.D., Sons Jerry Burries and wife Monica, Scott Burries and wife Kathy and one sister Betty Smith of Ark City, KS. Grandchildren, Chad Bodenstein, Kortney Wehunt, Brooke Stanton, Kacey Calhoun and 11 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at Faith Tabernacle Church with burial following at Longwood Cemetery.
He is being cared for by Trout Funeral Home and Crematory. Memorial may be made in his honor to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma and Faith Tabernacle Church.
Family will be excepting friends and family at the family home.
