Gaylord Ford of Newkirk, Oklahoma, died Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016, in the St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 75 years.
Gaylord Joe Ford was born on September 7, 1940 in Newkirk, Oklahoma to Anthony Jack Ford and Leola Faye (Smith) Ford. Gaylord attended Newkirk Schools, and graduated in 1958. He then went on to attend Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa, Oklahoma, as well as Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma. Gaylord married Jolene Holcomb on November 3, 1962 in Ponca City, Oklahoma and together they raised three children.
He owned and operated the Dairy Queen in Newkirk from 1964 to 1969 and then went on to be an insurance agent for MetLife, before taking over Ford Tank Truck Service with his father.
He is survived by his wife, Jolene Ford of Newkirk, Oklahoma; sons Van and wife Rhonda of Newkirk, Oklahoma, Von and wife Julie of Blackwell, Oklahoma; a daughter Gaylene and Husband Gary of Witchita, Kansas; sisters, Joy Wood and Jan Wagstaff; a brother, AJ Ford; as well as 11 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
Gaylord is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Ford and Faye Ford, and a great grandson Cayden Jack.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 22, 2016 at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Ponca City, Oklahoma with Rev. Adam Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Brenden Ford, Van Ford ll, Branden Russell, Austin Hall, Ryan Nichols, and Mike Davis.
