Gary Dewayne Forbeck
February 23, 1942 — June 17, 2024
Gary Dewayne Forbeck, 82, of Newkirk, went to be with the Lord on June 17, 2024. Gary was born in Blackwell, OK on February 23, 1942, and was the eldest son of Wayne and Maxine Forbeck. He was raised in Newkirk where he attended school and graduated from Newkirk High School. He began working at a very young age at many places and businesses around Newkirk. He served 6 years in the Oklahoma National Guard. He attended the University of Oklahoma where he briefly studied Meteorology.
Gary moved to Enid where he met and married Connie Hoopingarner. Together, they had 3 children, Kevin, Lisa, and Chad. He was a licensed private investigator and CLEET-certified security officer. He retired from the United States Postal Service, but later went back to work for his tribe at the Kaw Southwind Casino as surveillance.
He enjoyed being outdoors whether it was boating, skiing, fishing, or just working outside in his yard. He loved watching college football and Sooner softball with his daughter, Lisa. He always kept a close eye on the weather and served as his family’s personal weatherman. He was there to send up a prayer and always kept his prayer list up to date. His faith in the Lord, strength in prayer, and love for his family will forever be remembered.
Gary is survived by his daughter Lisa Allton and husband Jeff, of Newkirk; son Chad Forbeck of Enid; grandchildren, Christyn Cain, and husband Sean, of 29 Palms, CA., Lacey Wilson, and husband Jamie, of Newkirk, Kyler Forbeck, and wife Brandy, of Ponca City, Brittny Smith, and husband Matt, of Newkirk, Kennedy Forbeck, and fiancé Ben, of Tonkawa, Kade Forbeck of Newkirk, Corae, Morilee, and Preston Forbeck all of Enid; sisters, Debbie Lewman, and husband Bud, of Newkirk and Terri Humble of Ponca City; brother Charlie Cravens, and wife Chris, of Winfield, KS; uncle Walter Pappan of Newkirk; 17 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his son Kevin Forbeck, father Wayne Forbeck, mother Maxine Cravens, stepfather Jack Cravens, brother Ronnie Forbeck, and brother-in-law David Humble.
Services are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel. There will be a private family viewing. Services will be held on Monday June 24, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Christ’s Church in Newkirk with burial to follow at Washunga Cemetery.
