Obituary for Freda Vetter

Freda Mae Vetter of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died Sunday morning, January 12, 2014, in the Ponca City Nursing Home, Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years.
Freda Mae Vetter was born on May 19, 1935, on a farm in rural Blackwell, Oklahoma to Benjamin and Margaret Mary (Mund) Hein. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School through ninth grade and graduated Salutatorian from Blackwell Public Schools with the class of 1953. During high school, she worked at a local bakery and Kress Dime Store. After graduation she worked at Southwestern Bell Telephone as an operator where she was set up on a blind date by her supervisor with Ed Vetter. She married Edward Lesley “Ed” Vetter on January 6, 1957, and he preceded her in death on October 1, 2012. Her ambition in life was to be a good wife, mother and aunt, and very important to have a clean house. She enjoyed family parties and holidays. Her hobbies included collecting Beanie Babies and gardening in her flower beds.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharla Mae Vetter of Ponca City; two brothers, Ben Hein of Ponca City, and Melvin Hein and wife Emelia of Edmond; her dog, Lucky Vetter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Rose Mary Sears and Helen Buellesfeld; and one brother, Clarence Hein.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 16, 2014, at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Matt Smith, Immanuel Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be Justin Lawson, Josh Grimes, Ken Dewey, Joe Hein, Billy Vetter and Brian Vetter.
