Obituary for Frank Weber

Frank Edwin Weber, age 87, resident of Ponca City, passed away October 5, 2014.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Burial will then follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City. Casket bearers will be Kevin Davis, Kevin LaRue, Matthew Weber, Robert Tackett, Ed Goodman, and David Weber. Honorary casket bearers will be Jim Lessert, Pat Lessert, Mike Lessert, Sam Lessert, and Frank Lessert. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Frank was born on October 8, 1926 to Frank J. Weber and Geneva Brooks Weber in Newkirk, OK. After high school he joined the Army and served in the occupying force in Japan. After his military service, he was married to Kathryn Sue Pappan on June 6, 1947 in Ponca City. Frank loved sports and being outdoors. Baseball was one of his great passions, playing as a member of the local semi pro Osagers team. Waterskiing, fishing, and hunting also brought him into nature where he found himself most comfortable. He was a junior high school P.E. and history teacher. He also coached basketball, baseball, and golf, among others. An accomplishment Frank was especially proud of was breaking the gender Barrier on the Ponca City Junior High School Golf Team as he was instrumental in helping the first female golfer join the team. In his later years, he would travel south for the winter, helping the less fortunate on behalf of the Methodist Missions building housing in Mexico. Frank belonged to the After Five Lions Club and was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church in Ponca City.
Survivors include his beloved wife Kathryn of Ponca City; children: David Weber and wife Debra of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Susan Blake of Ponca City; Sally Tubbs and husband Andy of Red Rock, Oklahoma; sister, Bille Taylor of Ponca City; grandchildren: Hallie LaRue and husband Kevin of Ponca City; Katie Blake of Ponca City; Chelsea Weber of New York City; Matthew Weber of Austin, Texas; Brett Blake of Harrah, Oklahoma; Kelly Blake and wife Denessa of Harrah, Oklahoma; and great grandchildren: Kallon LaRue, Colton Blake, and Caymon Blake. Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Betty Faken; nephew, Brad Faken; niece, Roxanne Faken, and son-in-law, Kenny Blake.
The Family will be receiving visitors at the family home, 404 N. Flormable Ponca City, OK.
