Obituary for Frances Beal

Frances Vivian Beal, resident of Ponca City, OK, passed away August 16, 2014. She was 101. A service will be held 2:00 pm, Friday, August 22, 2014, at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Pastor Andy Taylor officiating. Visitation will be Thursday August 21, 2014, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Trout Funeral Home in Ponca City.
Frances was born April, 5, 1913 to George Henry Hanes and Nettie Mary (Wilson) Hanes in Pauls Valley, OK. She was the youngest of seven children. Frances attended Jefferson Elementary, Lee Elementary, Pauls Valley Jr. High and then was part of the graduating class of 1931 from Pauls Valley Senior High.
After graduation, Frances worked as the pastor’s secretary at the First Baptist Church in Pauls Valley for two years. Then she moved to Ponca City with her mother to help take care of her sister Georgia who had been paralyzed in a car accident. In Ponca she worked as a receptionist for Dr. John Niemann, a local dentist. She also worked as a secretary for the First Baptist Church and in the clerical department at Conoco.
Frances was married to Julian H. Beal on March 25, 1938 and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage before his death in 1999. Julian worked in the marketing department of Conoco and they were transferred to several cities before retiring to Ponca City in 1976.
Frances was a homemaker who enjoyed baking, sewing, and cross stitching. Having no children of her own, she enjoyed caring for the children in her neighborhood and helping with her nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews; Mary Jane (Beal) Barraclough and her husband Stan; of Ponca City; James and Karen Dagg of Tulsa, OK; Patty (Dagg) and Rolla Weber of Springfield, OR; David and Ann Dagg of Edmond, OK; Peggy (Dagg) and Greg Link of Oklahoma City; Steve and Donnita Dagg of Edmond, OK, Charles Beal and Laura Lynn Beal of Houston, TX and James Hanes of Foss, OK. She is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers and sisters, Elbert Bascum Hanes and wife Ruby, Inez Hanes, Georgia Eloise Hanes, Bill John Hanes and wife Mattie, Garvin Burch Hanes, and Gracie Irene Hanes.
She was a "favorite aunt" whose life will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
