Everett Tingley

April 08, 1922 – March 10, 2018

Everett C. Tingley transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, March 10, 2018. He was born April 8, 1922 in Grandpa Jared Tingley’s home in Lamont, OK to Everett Tingley and Letha Dobbs Tingley. His father died when he was only 8 months old. When Everett was 3 years old, his Mother married Ara Guthrie, and Ara became his Dad. From him, Everett gained his love for the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing.

He attended school in Enid graduating in 1940 from Enid High School. He then attended Enid Business College, where he met his wife Iva Rosebaugh. They were married in Wichita Falls, TX on December 24, 1942 and enjoyed 70 years of marriage before she passed away in 2013. After graduating in Business Administration, he then worked in the office of Pillsbury Flour Mill until being drafted into the Army Air Corps in September, 1942 during World War II. He was an instructor of Glider Maintenance, a carbine marksman, and served in the Western Pacific receiving the Phillippine Liberation Ribbon. He received an honorable discharge in January, 1946 at the rank of Sergeant in the 3rd Air Cargo Control Squadron.

Upon his discharge from service, he went into the dairy business with his father-in-law. Iva and he made their home on the farm where they raised their 3 children – Charles, Barbara and Jean. Later he took an accounting position with the George E. Failing Company in Enid. He drove the 100-mile round trip daily for 32 years until his retirement in 1986. He also enjoyed raising pigs, woodworking, and planting and sharing his huge garden.

He was a V.F.W. Life Member, a long-time American Legion member, and former member of the Deer Creek Lions Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife Iva, his parents, step-dad, sister Helen Ross, and grandson Trent Rowe.

He is survived by his Son Charles and Gerry Tingley, Ponca City; Daughter Barbara and Ronnie Roberts, Hennessey; and Daughter Jean and Wayne Whittington, Blackwell. Grandchildren: Steve and Christine Roberts, Stacy and Johnny Weber, Gary and Sheila Roberts, Todd and Jeanne Rowe, Stephanie and Cody Stone, Melissa and Michael Scroggins, and Robert and Justina Whittington. Numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 13th in the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Nardin with Chaplain Tom Howard of Hospice of North Central Oklahoma officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery.
