Obituary for Eva Soutter

Eva Marie Smith Soutter, long time Ponca City resident passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the Ponca City Nursing Home. She was 86.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Fairfax Cemetery at 11:00 am with Pastor Lindee DeRoin, officiating. Viewing will be held at Trout Funeral Home.
Eva was born on March 8, 1928 to Raymond N. Smith and Rosie B. Trent Smith in Fairfax, OK. She spend her childhood in Fairfax and graduated from Fairfax High School.
She met David J. Soutter in San Francisco, CA, where she worked as a telephone operator for Pacific Bell and where David was stationed in the US Navy. They married on January 6, 1947 in Pawnee, OK.
Making their home in Fairfax and later moved to Ponca City. Eva worked part time at a local flower shop and dairy store but her full time job was raising a family of six children. After David’s retirement, they lived for a short time in Howard, CO, then returned to Ponca City.
Eva had a passion for "treasure hunting" For antiques at flea markets, garage sales and thrift stores. Her children would often refer to their home as a "museum" filled with antiques. She loved restoring antique dolls and making doll clothes. She also did china painting and refurbishing old globe lamps by painting the new globe to match the pattern of the base.
She is survived by her three sons; Sam Soutter and wife Susie of Cleveland, OK; Kenny Soutter and wife Susie of Ponca City,OK; and David Soutter also of Ponca City, OK. Two daughters, Carolyn Haynes and husband Ed of Oklahoma City, OK; Mary Kay Wedin and husband Richard of Gilmer, TX. and one daughter-in-law, Ann Soutter of Ponca City, OK, and numerous grand children, great-grandchildren, one sister, Donna Mobbley, sister-in-law Shirley Smith both of Ponca City, OK and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eva is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, one son, Fred Soutter, one brother, Willard Smith, one daughter-in-law, Renne Soutter, one granddaughter, Misty Ann Trueblood and one brother-in-law Walter Mobbley.
