Elden Raymond Calls Him

November 16, 1961 ~ February 19, 2020 (age 58)

Elden Raymond Calls Him Sr., 58, resident of Tonkawa, Oklahoma and proud full-blood member of the Ponca Nation, passed away February 19, 2020.

Elden “Gla-da-Zhinga” (Little Hawk) was born the fourth son of Reverend George Calls Him Jr. and Imogene Primeaux Calls Him on November 16, 1961. After graduating from Sequoia High School in Tahlequah, Oklahoma Elden went on to work in the construction industry. Elden loved life and took pride in making traditional tribal regalia, including fancy dance bustles. Being at the Tonkawa Tribal Pow Wow Grounds always brought great joy to him. He also loved going for walks and watching the kids play at the tribal gym. He was a Champion Ponca Fancy Dancer and was proud to represent his Ponca Nation that way. Elden is survived by his son, Elden Calls Him Jr. of Ponca City, His Sisters Augie Paschal and Jolene Calls Him of Lacey, Washington, Sisters Christine Calls Him Eagle of Ponca City, Deloris Calls Him of Sioux City, Iowa, Kyia Primeaux of Oklahoma City, Tomasita Little Crow of Red Rock, and Pauline Chama of Tonkawa, Oklahoma, Maria Chama of Ponca City and his brothers Melvin P. Calls Him Sr. of Lacey Washington, and Paul Chama of Wellington, Kansas. Also left to cherish his memories are his four grandchildren Malena Calls Him, Anna Georgena Calls Him, Elden Calls Him III, Loren Calls Him, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, four brothers- George Calls Him III, Edward Calls Him Sr., Elwood Sonny Calls Him Sr, and Mark V. Calls Him Sr., two sisters- Baby Girl Calls Him and Kaye Christi Calls Him, one niece Rosetta D. Arkeketa, and twin grandsons- Juliano and Josiah Calls Him.

Services under the care of Grace Memorial Chapel, will be held at the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church on Sunday, February 23, 2020 following the traditional feast. Pastor Jimmy White will be presiding. Visitation is also being held at the church until the time of service. Online condolences may be made at gracememorialchapel.net
