March 21, 1942 – April 11, 2018

Douglas McArthur Jenkins, formerly of Blackwell, died early Wednesday morning, April 11, 2018, in the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 76 years.

Douglas McArthur Jenkins was born on March 21, 1942, in Blackwell to Jess Allen and Emma Jaunita (Dutton) Jenkins. He grew up in Blackwell and attended Uncas School, Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1961. He married Kathleen Carver on June 11, 1962, in Blackwell and later that year settled in Sandston, Virginia. In 1976, they returned to Blackwell to make their home before moving to a farm east of town. He worked as a contractor constructing pole barns for many area farms. Following his retirement he worked as a campground supervisor at Kaw Lake and in campgrounds in Tennessee and Arkansas. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing pool and terrorizing his children.

He is survived by two sons, Bobby Jenkins of Grove and Douglas Jenkins and fiancé, Lilia Muira of Panama City Beach, Florida; three daughters, Vicky Burgess of Tonkawa, Melissa Nunn and fiancé, Mark Snow of Blackwell, and Laura Tiemann and husband, Arlen of Ponca City; two brothers, Jimmy Jenkins of Kildare and Robert Jenkins of Ocala, Florida; a sister, Sylvia Simmons of Blackwell; the children’s mother, Kathleen Colvin of Tonkawa; eleven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Chancie, Alfred and Leroy Jenkins.

Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Saturday, April 14th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Cap McIlnay officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Seth Jenkins, Jeremia Jenkins, Trey Tiemann and Ryan Nunn. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Gary Jenkins, Rodney Jenkins, Allen Jenkins and Charlie Jenkins.

A memorial has been established in his honor with the Arbor Tree Foundation in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
