Doris Ann Stafford Samuel, age 75, longtime resident of Kaw City, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 peacefully at her home.
Friends and loved ones may pay their respects at the funeral home from 1-5pm Sunday, December 31 and 8am-8pm Tuesday, January 2. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-7pm. A funeral ceremony to celebrate Doris’s life will be held at 10:00am Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the Hospice of North Central Oklahoma Carolyn Renfro Event Center with Chaplain Tom Howard officiating. Casket bearers will be Max Nolen, Mickey Nolen, Taylor Smyth, Rick Taylor, Nathan Hall and Willie Beeler. Following the ceremony, she will be laid to rest at the Grandview Cemetery in Kaw City.
Doris was born on February 17, 1942 to Douglas Hadley Stafford and Edna Mae Stephenson Stafford in Blackwell, OK. She was she was raised in Blackwell, OK graduating in 1960. She was married to Donald R. Samuel on December 31, 1981 in Ponca City. They made their home in Kaw City through the years as she worked as a trust officer for various banks including Security National Bank in Blackwell, Central National Bank, First National and Home National Bank before retiring from banking. After leaving the banking trust field, in 2007 Doris and Don bought the Kaw Lake One Stop, operating it until 2012 when they retired for good. Through the years, Doris enjoyed going to the casino, boating and fishing on the lake, or working in her garden. She will be remembered as a kind, caring, and giving lady.
Survivors include her beloved husband Don of the home, daughter Cindy Nolen and husband Michael of Pinehurst, TX, son Michael Smyth and wife Debbie of Blackwell, OK; siblings Mary Hall and husband Nathan of Ponca City, Donald Stafford of Blackwell; grandchildren: Taylor Smyth of Ponca City, Kimberly Kester and husband Brandon of Cleveland, OK, Max Nolen of Pinehurst, TX, and Mickey Nolen of Pinehurst, TX, great grandchildren: Kelcy Beeler of Cleveland, OK, Hannah Smyth of Ponca City and Hadley Smyth of Ponca City.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and brother Leon Stafford.
