Donald James Streller
December 29, 1939 – December 22, 2024
Donald James Streller, 84, of Perry, Oklahoma passed away December 22, 2024.
He was born on December 29, 1939 to Paul and Lena Streller in Perry, OK. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School through the 6th grade. Following the 6th grade he attended Perry Jr. High and High School, graduating in May of 1958. After graduation he attended OSU for a year before deciding to take some time off. Shortly after he joined the Army National Guard. During this time he met Sue Jo Gerhards of Guthrie, OK. They married on December 29, 1962.
After some time he went back to school and attended OSU Tech School in OKC, graduating with an associates degree in drafting in 1964. After graduation he and Sue moved back to Perry to continue operating the family farm. They had three sons, Joe, Bill and Tim. Don was devoted to the family farm and was able to teach each of his sons everything he knew about it. Through his years on the farm he was able to earn his Pilot License and his CDL for trucking. He and Sue would take quick trips to see relatives in his plane and drive the semi all over hauling pipe, grain, hay or anything else that was needed.
Don was a long time member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church where he was currently serving on the Cemetery Board. He also had served on the Noble County Watershed Conservation Board and the Noble County Flood Plain Board. He enjoyed being involved on these boards and helping in any way he could.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. If he wasn’t working on the farm you could find him reading his magazines, sketching out designs, playing with his great-grandkids or eating a bowl of ice cream. He was known to always have a quarter for his great-grandkids and church kids or cattle cubes for the neighborhood dogs. Though he was pretty ornery he always had a story to tell or advice to give.
He was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Lena Streller, infant brother Charles Streller, brother Richard Streller and son Tim Streller.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Streller, sister Janet Hyatt, son Joe Streller and wife Patsy, son Bill Streller, grandchildren Eric Streller and wife Jessica, Paige Balderson, Kolby Streller and Macie Streller, great-grandchildren, Aston Balderson, Caiden Balderson, Samantha Streller and Katherine Streller, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
Serving as casket bearers will be Larry Buffington, David Sewell, Alan Webb, Verl Brorsen, Jay Debord and Eric Streller.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in memory of Donald Streller in care of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N. 7th St., Perry, Oklahoma 73077.
