Donald Lee Meyer
February 11, 1936 – July 3, 2017
Donald Lee Meyer was born to Tony and Anna Meyer on 2-11-1936 in Orlando, OK. He was raised in that country community and attended Orlando School. He later farmed and ranched in that area, raising cattle, wheat, and putting up lots of hay. He loved all of this for over 50 years.
He married Janice Harris on November 18, 1960. They raised their three daughters, Jonnie, Jacquie and Bobbie in the country lifestyle they loved so much.
Along with his farming he also spent several years employed at Ditch Witch of Perry, a few years as co-owner with his brother Dale of Meyer Brothers Dirt Contracting Services. He enjoyed doing all kinds of dozer work building terraces and ponds in the area and any other jobs. Always having time to spend with family who was so important to him. He spent time in the military serving with 45th Army National Guard at Ft. Ord, CA, and Ft Chaffee, AR, and making summer camps and weekend drills out of Perry.
Don was so thankful for the Lords blessings in the fifty six years of marriage and enjoying life with his family who all loved him very much. He was a member of Mulhall First Baptist Church for years then later Clearview Baptist Church in Okmulgee after retiring in the Okmulgee area near their children. Where they made a lot of new friends but always remembering their old friends.
Don enjoyed checking cattle with his children, his yard work and gathering antiques. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren was a source of great joy.
Surviving is his wife Janice of fifty six years. Two daughters and their husbands-Jacquie Holman and husband James of Calvin, OK, Bobbie Raines and husband Matt of Okmulgee, OK, One sister Cleo Kudlac and husband Jerry of Yukon, OK, and sister-in-laws Darlene Meyer of Perry, OK, and Pauline Meyer of Covington, OK, and several nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Angel King Mast of MO, Falon King Butler and Husband David of Perry, OK, Crystal Ford Henson and husband Mike and Marcus Ford of McAlester, OK, Jerrik Raines of Okmulgee, OK, Justin Holman, Lindsey Turner and husband Jerred, Lacie Rammage and husband Justin all of Calvin, OK.
Great grandchildren Ashlee Mast and Kaedan King of MO, Matthew and Anastasia Turner, Chloie and Piper Rammage all of Calvin, OK, KJ Bowers, Ryder Daniels and Gabriella Ford all of McAlester, OK.
Don loved his faithful Blue Heeler, Gunner and his lap dog, Sandy.
Preceded in death by one daughter Jonnie Lee Ford, three sisters- Mildred Linden, Irma Trompler, and Vivian Smith. Four brothers Ivan Berger, Doyle, Dale and Cecil Meyer.
The family will be greeting friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 7, 2017. A celebration of Don’s life will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Trout Funeral Home of Perry Chapel with Pastor Randy Mathews of Clearview Baptist Church of Okmulgee officiating. Burial will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery.
