Obituary for David Killman

David Merl Killman of Wichita, Kansas, died Tuesday, June 24, 2014, at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas at the age of 68 years.
David Merl Killman was born on February 9, 1946, in Blackwell, Oklahoma. He was the son of Everett Lonnie and Mary Christine (Hayes) Killman. He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools. Following his education he entered the United States Army service during the Vietnam War. Following his discharge he moved back to Blackwell where he began working in the oilfields as a roughneck. He married Linda Johnson on January 26, 1976, in Winfield, Kansas and they made their home in Blackwell for a year. They then moved to Otwine, Oklahoma, until 1985 when they moved to the Winfield – Dexter, Kansas area. In the early 1980s he began his career in the music business by recording an album and going on tour until 1991 when he retired. In 2013 they moved to Wichita, Kansas. He enjoyed fishing, hunting arrowheads, living the country life and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Killman of Wichita, Kansas; a son, Nathan Killman and wife Stacy of Wichita, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Hagan Michael Killman, Colbi Alexa Killman and Peyton Marie Killman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Michael Killman; four brothers; and one sister.
Services are scheduled for Tuesday, July 1st at 11:00 a.m., at the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim Hashbarger of Wichita, Kansas, officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
A memorial has been established in his memory with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation C.O.P.D. Research, in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
