Clarence Lavern “Vern” Hoyer, 70, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Ponca City, Oklahoma. Vern was born on March 3, 1946 in Brush, Colorado to Eldon Hoyer and Elsie (Knox) Hoyer. He graduated from Diamond High School and later attended College of the Ozarks.
Vern moved to Ponca City with Beneficial Finance. Later, he worked for Ponca City Savings & Loan and Frontier Federal. In 1974, he moved to Missouri and worked for Carondelet Savings & Loan. In 1976, Vern moved back to Ponca City and in 1978, bought a mobile home park and started Hoyer Mobile Home Moving Business. Later, he began working for Braden Rural Water District and then McCord Rural Water district for over 30 years.
Vern and Janet were married in September of 1994 in Diamond, MO. They made their home N.E. of Ponca City and enjoyed many things together from trail riding, trout fishing, riding their Goldwing, working on their cabin in Cassville and spending time with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of Ponca City, mother, Elsie Hoyer of Ponca City, one brother, Gene Hoyer and his wife, Cheryl of Diamond, MO, daughter, Malissa Ratliff and husband, Mike and their two sons, Jayke Ratliff and Jayson Ratliff of Red Rock, OK, daughter, Kim Roach and husband, Eric of Reeds, MO and their children, Mason, Brayden, Kylee, Hannah, and Ethan, great-grandchildren, Ava and Gunner, step-son, Steven of Washington, and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside services for Vern will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday June 11, 2016 at Sunset Memorial Park in Ponca City, OK.
Vern was the type of person who never met a stranger. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
