Clarence Albert Collyar – Veteran

Clarence Albert Collyar, formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died September 23, 2019, in the Villages on MacArthur in Irving, Texas, at the age of 93 years.

Clarence Albert Collyar was born on November 30, 1925, in Blackwell to Earl Edward and Anna May (Bushman) Collyar. He grew up on a farm south of Billings and attended rural Noble County Elementary School. During these years the family moved to Blackwell where he attended Park School, Lovett Junior High and Blackwell High School. He entered the United States Navy on May 25, 1943, serving during World War II. Following his discharge in 1946, he returned to Blackwell and began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company. He married Norma Joy Almack on September 25, 1948, and they made Blackwell their home. He continued to work at the smelter as head of maintenance and worked until the plant closed. He then began working in Ponca City for a can making company. He married Irma Lucille on October 23, 1976, in Blackwell. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1997, and he continued to make Blackwell his home. He later married Glenda Jean Morrison on December 15, 2015, in Blackwell and they moved to Norman. They later moved to Stillwater for a brief time before returning to Blackwell to make their home. After a year, they moved to Irving, Texas. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Blackwell and an associate member of Calvary Church in Irving, Texas. He also held membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, flying and sight-seeing.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Collyar of Irving, Texas; two daughters, Debbie Sills and Paula Wayman, both of Norman; step-children, Dwayne West of Irving, Texas, and Carol Bolfing of Waco, Texas; a bother, Robert Collyar of Ponca City; thirteen grandchildren; numerous step-grandchildren; and several step-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Keith Collyar; and siblings, Velva, Cloren, Lorene, Charles and Richard.

A graveside service is scheduled for 2:00, Monday, October 7^th in the Blackwell Cemetery with Lanny Jobe officiating. Military rites will be performed by the United States Navy.
