Cheryl was born September 1, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Robert and Millie Tomblin. Cheryl was a long-time Ponca City resident that graduated with the PoHi Class of 61. On July 3rd, 1964 Cheryl married Guy LeMonnier, Jr. of Ponca City. Together they had two daughters, Kerri and Debbie.
After going to college at Oklahoma State University, Cheryl went on to work for Conoco Oil Company. She started out in the Computer & Information Systems Department in Data Entry, went on to Operations Research as Administrative Support and then to Refining Administrative Services for a total of 34 years, until her retirement. In addition to working for Conoco she also helped Guy with their construction business.
One of Cheryl’s interests outside of work was participating with Ponca City’s Class of 1961 Reunion Committee. She so enjoyed her time spent helping and getting together with her classmates throughout the years and thoroughly enjoyed every reunion. She also volunteered often for her favorite Christian Radio Station, KLVV.
Her biggest passion was attending and serving her church, First Baptist. She was a strong person of faith, and it was very important to her. She loved doing anything and everything for and with her church and church family. As her illness progressed, we would set up church on the TV and with her bible and her note pad (because she was a diligent note taker) she would watch the service and then her Sunday School class would FaceTime with her so she could participate. This was the highlight of her week.
Aside from these passions her most joy was spending time with her family. She loved entertaining and having all the family come to her house for holidays and every other occasion to swim and get together. Many friends, grandkids, nieces and nephews and their kids learned to swim in her pool. Her homemade ice cream and chocolate sheet cake was a favorite and was requested every year.
Her 4 grandsons were the light of her life, she taught them many things and loved them so much. Her face would light up and her voice would get louder anytime one of them called or came by. She loved her sisters, they would meet at least twice a week to have coffee, eat and shop, they were very close. We would like to thank them for staying by her side throughout everything.
Cheryl is survived by her 2 daughters, Kerri (Jamie) Nichols of Ponca City, OK and Debbie (Steve) Cady of Des Moines, WA. She is also survived by her four grandsons, Cole Nichols of Ponca City, OK, Lane Nichols of Dallas, TX, and Cameron and Brandon Cady of Des Moines, WA. Also survived by her are two sisters, Sandra (Stan) Brown and Jana Fredricks both of Ponca City, OK.; sister-in-Law, Peggy Tomblin of Dierks, AR; Guy’s aunt and uncle, Gene and Velma LeMonnier of Ponca City, OK, and their son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Teresa LeMonnier and numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Cheryl was blessed to have many family members, friends and two caregivers in addition to Hospice taking good care of her daily. Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband Guy, her parents Robert and Millie Tomblin, her brother John Tomblin, her brother-in-law Merrill Fredricks and her grandparents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Oklahoma,445 Fairview Ave., Ponca City, OK, 74601 or KLVV Christian Radio Station,6600 W Highway 60, Ponca City, OK, 74601.
