Charlotte R. Rupp
October 31, 1927 – May 30, 2019
Charlotte R. (Bay) Rupp, age 91, passed peacefully in her sleep at the Green Valley Nursing Home with her family at her side on Thursday, May 30, 2019.
The celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 3, 2019 at 10 a.m. at the Trout Funeral Home of Perry Chapel, with Rev. William Metz officiating. She will be laid to rest at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 2, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
She was born on October 31, 1927 to Floyd and Faye (Goodwell) Bay on their farm near Perry. Charlotte attended 4D School for several years until her family moved to a farm north of the Sumner community. Charlotte liked playing basketball while attending Sumner School where she graduated from in 1945. She was baptized at the Zion Lutheran Church as a young woman.
Charlotte married Art Rupp on November 10, 1946 in Sumner where they farmed and raised their family. Charlotte drove the Sumner school bus for 25 years until the school closed. Family loved to get together, especially the Fourth of July cookout and fireworks. She has always been a wonderful cook which she learned from her mom. Some of the family’s favorites are her fried chicken, pickles, pickled beets, salsa, angel food cake, bread pudding, pumpkin pie and many more.
Wheat harvest was always a busy time for Charlotte. In addition to her cooking meals, she also drove the wheat trucks to town. When Art would take the combines on the road from Texas to the Dakotas, Charlotte would stay home to take care of their children, the farm and chores. Refinishing furniture and making wooden crafts has always been a love of Charlotte’s. Many of the items she made and redid were sold at flea markets and at Bill’s Corner Trading Post operated by Art and her.
She is survived by her sons: John and wife Lisa Rupp of Aubrey, TX, Marvin and wife Mary Rupp of Perry; two daughters: Barbara and her husband Jerry Rose of Middleburg, FL, Benita and her husband Rod Lighty of Perry; grandchildren: Amy, Evan, Jason, Kyle, Amanda, David, Travis, Lexi, Seth and Zach, and sixteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Rink; sister-in-laws: Lila Bay and Wynema Bay; brother-in-law, Donald Keith.
Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents; five siblings: Floyd, Raymond, Lavern, Donald and Karen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church (cemetery fund), in care of Trout Funeral Home of Perry, 1408 N. 7th Street, Perry, OK 73077. Family would love to read your condolences at www.troutperry.com
