Charles Cobb
(March 7, 1928 – May 16, 2016)
Charles LeRoy Cobb, age 88, lifelong resident of Ponca City, passed away Monday, May 16, 2016, in Tulsa, OK.
A visitation with the family present will be held from 5-7pm Wednesday, May 18 in the Historic Great Room at Trout Funeral Home. Funeral ceremony will be held at 2:00 pm, Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Newkirk First United Methodist Church with Reverend Bryan Tener officiating. Following the ceremony, he will be laid to rest with U.S. Army Honors at Resthaven Memorial Park in Ponca City. His family members will serve as casket bearers. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.
Charles was born on March 7, 1928 to Madison LeRoy Cobb and Pansy Alice Gossett Cobb in Ponca City, OK. He was raised in Ponca City, graduating from high school in 1946. Following high school Charles joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in occupied Japan. Upon his return to the U.S., Charles attended and graduated from Oklahoma A & M where he met his wife. On Nov. 24, 1952, he and Rilla M. Grove were married in Enid, OK. They lived northeast of Ponca City, farming & raising cattle while Charles was employed by Conoco as a process engineer. Charles enjoyed bird hunting with his dogs, riding his horse, golfing as well as wood working, making bowls and cutting boards for friends and family. He is a long time member of the Newkirk First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife Rilla Cobb of the home, son Everrett LeRoy Cobb and wife Ellen of Ponca City, sister Jane Ellen Anderson and husband Robert of Summerfield, FL., grandchildren: Lucas Aaron Cobb and wife Christi of Kansas City, KS, Anthony Clinton Cobb and wife Allison of Spring Lake, MI, Angela Marie Nessett and husband Larry of Comstock Park, MI, Amanda Marie Mayahi and husband Aziz of Tulsa, OK, Chelsey Renee Allen and husband Matthew of Houston, TX, Jennifer Lee Cobb and fiancé Jason Callaway of Tulsa, OK, 10 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Mark Eugene Cobb.
