Wayne was born on September 19, 1946 in Coldwater, Kansas to Marjorie Bliss where he spent his youth. He was drafted into the United States Army at the age of 19 and was deployed to Vietnam. He then returned home and received an honorable discharge in ‘72. He moved to Perry, OK in 1981 where he met the love of his life. In 1983 he asked Hazel if she wanted to get married or buy a cow, and they decided to do both, on July 27th of that year. While raising 2 children, Nadia and Nikki, he worked as a Mechanic at ODOT where he retired after 20 + years. In Wayne’s spare time he enjoyed being at the lake, fishing and backyard get togethers with family, where he loved playing basketball, baseball and in later years, bean bag toss. When he was a youngster, his family taught him to play Pitch, a game he quickly mastered and loved to play non-stop. Ten years ago, the family got a mutt from Wal-Mart, named Chester. Despite his best efforts, Chester instantly became his partner in crime and best friend. Wayne was a fun-loving man, who always had a unique nickname for those he loved. Boy, Zippy, Nintendo Queen, Skyrocket, Elf, Dude and Army Brat just to mention a few. If you knew him long enough, odds are he had one for you too. He was an esteemed sea monkey farmer, comedian and a great storyteller. Senior Quote: Quiet he is but who knows what he is thinking.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Bliss, daughter Nadia McKitrick (Ronald) of Hardtner, KS, daughter Nikki Woodson (Travis) of Orlando, OK; five Grandchildren Stetson Howland, of Edmond, OK, Wyatt Woodson of Orlando, OK, Glenna Williams, of Coldwater, KS, Tyler Woodson of Orlando, OK and Malayna McKitrick of Hardtner, KS; and one Great-grandson Tanner Gossett of Coldwater, KS.
