Carol Orr

Carol Jean Boullion Orr of Blackwell, Oklahoma, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in the Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid at the age of 74 years.
Carol Jean Boullion Orr was born on July 19, 1943, in Anniston, Alabama, to Lieutenant Colonel Kenneth Leroy and Erna (Graf) Boullion. She grew up in various states including Washington, Arkansas, Michigan and Texas. Carol lived in Germany for a combined nine years during three different tours of duty with both her father and her husband. She married Eugene Roy Orr on June 2, 1962, in El Paso, Texas. Following a three-year tour in Germany, they moved to Michigan for five years. They then moved to Doniphan, Missouri, for a year and a half before moving to Tonkawa, Oklahoma, in the early 1970’s. They later moved to Blackwell to make their home. They had three children, Gene Orr and Rebecca Orr Allen, both born in Munich, Germany, and Michael Orr, born in Mount Clemens, Michigan.
Upon their move to Blackwell, Carol and Eugene opened and operated Orr Upholstery in Blackwell until ill health forced Eugene to retire after thirty-five years of service. Along with helping her husband with the family business, she worked for the Blackwell Journal-Tribune for thirteen years. Other employment included working at Southwest Cupid for three years and Sykes in Blackwell for a year. She also found time to attend Pioneer Technology Center in Ponca City where she graduated as a registered medical assistant. Her husband preceded her in death on February 2, 2008, and she continued to make Blackwell her home.
Carol was an active member of the Immanuel Baptist Church and the Hope Sunday School Class in Blackwell. Other memberships include the Oklahoma Home and Community Education, life member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Post 2855 and the Kay County R.S.V.P. Council. She served her community in many capacities including serving on the A.A.R.P. Executive Council for the State of Oklahoma and as President and Vice-President on the Blackwell council of A.A.R.P. She was a board member of the Senior Citizens Center and served as secretary for three years, as well as volunteering at the Good Buy Shoppe in Blackwell. Her passion for seniors extended to the State Capitol where she was active in helping pass various bills relating to senior citizens.
She is survived by three children, Gene Orr of Ponca City, Rebecca Allen of Blackwell, and Michael Orr of Ponca City; seven grandchildren, Bradley Orr, Tracy Orr, Amanda Maise, Courtney Orr, Cassie Evans, Aleasha Rowe and Carrie Orr; three great grandchildren, Cambree Cooper, Branson Evans and Adelynn Rower. She is also survived by a brother, Kenneth Boullion Jr. and wife Cathy of Mission Viejo, California; and two sisters, Patricia Griffis and husband Richard of Monroe, Ohio, and Vivian Mitchell and husband Mitch of Louisville, Mississippi.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter-in-law, Renae Orr.
Services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, September 11th in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Blackwell with Rev. Matt Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Friday and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the Immanuel Baptist Church Hope Sunday School Class in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
