Obituary for Beverley Carson

Beverley Jean Allison Cofer Carson, age 89, longtime resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away August 24, 2015 in Oklahoma City.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, August 28, 2015 at the Grace Episcopal Church in Ponca City with the Rev. Dr. Dee Wellington Bright officiating. Burial will then follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Ponca City. Casket bearers will be James Lloyd, Jr., Mike Cofer, Ray Cofer, James Lloyd, Stan Wheeler, and Wes Nimmo. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory.

Beverley was born on February 14, 1926 to Charles Y. and Elsie Parrent Allison in Chanute, KS. She was raised in Chanute, graduating from high school there in 1944. After high school, her education continued at the St. Francis School of Nursing in Wichita for two years. In 1947, she was married to John W. Cofer. Later, Beverley worked in the Medical Division of the Continental Oil Company for 21 years, until retiring in 1985 when an early retirement option was offered company-wide. Beverley and John enjoyed traveling in the U.S. as well as overseas. There were Three children born of this union, Ray, Nancy, and Mike. John died on January 8, 1997. In 2000, Beverley attended a reunion at Chanute, KS where she met a former classmate, Dick Carson. On July 20, 2002, Beverley and Dick were married in the Episcopal Church in Ponca City.

Beverley was an avid reader, enjoyed bridge, tennis, and golf. She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, ECW, Daughters of The King, the FN Chapter of PEO, as well as the Ponca City Country Club.

Survivors include her children: Ray Cofer and wife Joyce of Frisco, TX, Nancy Lloyd and Husband Jim of Tulsa, OK, Mike Cofer and wife Dena of Edmond, OK, stepson, Rich Carson, and stepdaughter, Nancy Pacheco; grandchildren: Jason, Kelly, Buddy, Jamie, Allison, and Taylor, great grandchildren: Megan, Clair, Adrielle, and Dashiell, and Vita Grace.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, John Cofer and Dick Carson, and brother, Charles Allison.
