Beulah Mae Johns of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Saturday afternoon, May 18, 2019, in the Hillcrest Manor Nursing Home at the age of 91 years.
Beulah Mae Johns was born on January 18, 1928, in Blackwell to Edgar Elmer and Frankie Lula (Vannest) Jeffries. She grew up in Blackwell and attended Blackwell Public Schools graduating with the Class of 1946. She married Frank Donald Johns on March 19, 1947, in Winfield, Kansas, and they settled in Blackwell where she served family as a homemaker. She later worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. After three years she returned to the home to assist with the family farming operation and caring for her family. She was preceded in death by her husband on December 11, 2000, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She served as a youth leader with the Peckham 4-H and also served as an F.F.A. mom. She was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church and enjoyed quilting with the church ladies. She was also involved with the Friendly Few Women’s Home Extension Group.
She is survived by a daughter, Deanna Sheets and husband Jim of Blackwell; seven sons, J. Frank Johns and wife Marsha of Blackwell, Daryl Johns of Newkirk, Lonnie Johns of Blackwell, Steve Johns and wife Barbara of Newkirk, Les Johns and companion Dennis of Edmond, Donnie Johns and wife Lea Ann of Owasso, and Curtis Johns of Peckham; a daughter-in-law, Leslie Ann Johns of Morrison; a sister, Merle Ann Brown of Tulsa; sixteen grandchildren, Sharon Johns of Indiana, Cindy Cline of Newkirk, Suzanne Howard and husband Adam of Broken Arrow, Becky Klinger and husband Bryan of Ponca City, Laurie Cannon and husband Tom of Blackwell, Jimmie Sheets and wife Sybil of Ponca City, Jeremy Johns and wife Heather of Blackwell, Garrett Johns and wife Ashley of Perry, Logan Johns of Morrison, Kaleb Johns and wife Whitney of Newkirk, Audrey Johns of Ponca City, Ryan Johns and wife Kristyn of Justin, Texas, Brandon Johns of Owasso, Holly Robertson and husband Colby of Edmond, Curtis Dale Frank Johns of Peckham, and Tracy Johns of Arkansas City, Kansas; and twenty-one great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Ruby, Opal Margarite, Pearl Leona, Geraldine, Mary Louise, Lee Alan, Elmer Keith and Neal Ray.
Services are scheduled for 2:30 p.m., Friday, May 24th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. George Brock of Drumright officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.
Casketbearers will be her eight children and honorary casketbearers will be her sixteen grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in her honor with the St. John’s Lutheran Church Ladies Quilting Group in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
