Betty E. Williams
(October 27, 1924 – October 28, 2015)
Betty E. Williams, resident of Ponca City, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday October 28, 2015 at home surrounded by her family. At the age of 91.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Longwood Baptist Church with Reverend Donnie Hazlewood officiating.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 1, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Trout Funeral Home.
Betty was born to John and Julia Murrell on October 27, 1924 in Fairmont Nebraska. She spent her early life living in Fairmont graduating Fairmont High School in 1942. During her time in Fairmont she worked at a bank and a local doctors office. She moved to Lincoln, Nebraska where she met her husband W.K. (Bill) Williams. They were married in Wellington, KS on July 15th, 1946 and moved to Perry, OK. They then moved to Ponca City in July of 1947 opening the Williams Neon Sign Company.
Betty and Bill had ten children who are all still living. Jon Williams of Ponca City; Jane and husband Doyle Worstell of Ponca City; David T. Williams of Ponca City; Patricia Karcher of Morrison, Oklahoma; Sandra White of Woodward, Oklahoma; Nancy and husband Terry Silkey of Ponca City; Richard and wife Jan Williams of Ponca City; Shelly Williams of Ponca City; Kelly Stephens of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Marcia and husband Mike Miller of Ponca City; Betty has 14 grandchilren, Robert Williams of Corpus Christi, TX; Jennifer and husband Sean White of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Jamie and husband Justin Wohletz of Ponca City; Lindsey and husband E6 Josh Sanderfer of Fort Lee, Virginia; Casey Templeton and husband Richard of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Kurt Swart of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Nicholas Swart of Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Christine and husband Mark Hicks of Skiatook, Oklahoma; Jason W. Bell of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Monica Newton of Ames, Oklahoma; Donnie and wife Kari Ann Hazlewood of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Laine and husband Andrew Gray; Zackary McDonald of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Blake McDonald of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Betty has 19 great grandchildren and one on the way.
Betty is also survived by sister-in-law Joyce Murrell of Fairmont, Nebraska. Numerous nieces and nephews of her twin brother Bob Murrell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, W.K. (Bill) Williams; a granddaughter, Lesa Williams; great grandson Mason Hazlewood; two brothers, Bob Murrell , and Jack Murrell.
In lieu of flowers the family would like there to be memorial contributions made to Longwood Baptist Church, 1885 N. Longwood Rd. Ponca City, OK 74604.
