Obituary for Betty Holman

Betty Lou Holman of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died late Monday evening, March 10, 2014, in the Blackwell Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years.

Betty Lou Holman was born on September 14, 1938, in Braman, Oklahoma, to James L. and Clara Mae (Hayes) Hobaugh. She grew up in Braman attending Plainview School and Braman Public Schools graduating in 1956. She married Milton Leroy Holman on July 24, 1956, in Blackwell and they settled in Blackwell where she served her family as a homemaker. She later worked for Sears in Blackwell while also assisting her husband with Blackwell Truck and Roustabout Service. She later worked for Homeland Grocery Store. Her husband preceded her in death on September 15, 1999, and she continued to make Blackwell her home. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church in Blackwell. She enjoyed square dancing, ceramic works, gardening, home decorating and attending her children and grandchildren’s various activities.

She is survived by a daughter, Cristy Crumrine and husband Calvin of Tonkawa; four sons, Cody Holman and wife JoAnne of Blackwell, Clint Holman and wife Diann of Blackwell, Clayton Holman of Blackwell, and Coy Holman and wife Jennifer of Blackwell; an aunt, Mary Hester Holt of Blackwell; two sisters-in-law, Thurra Wynn and husband Elmer of Blackwell, and Dixie Todd and husband Charlie of Enid, Oklahoma; a cousin, Dean Sherbon of Albuquerque, New Mexico; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Jimmy Dale Hobaugh; and a nephew, Tristan Wynn.

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 14th in the Roberts and Son Funeral Home Chapel in Blackwell with Rev. Randy Rutledge of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Dustin Holman, Drew Holman, Cole Holman, Chris Pemberton and Wyatt Courtney. Honorary casketbearers will be Katie Holman, Kara Holman, Megan Holman, Devin Courtney, Leslie Inman, Carissa Pemberton and Heather Holman.

A memorial has been established in her honor with the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for diabetes research or the Blackwell Wrestling Club in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74361.
