Arlene Faye Bates, 81, of Ponca City, passed away on November 16, 2021.
She was born on January 14, 1940 to Lester and Apoline (Misak) Larson in Renfrow, OK.
She graduated from Caldwell High School in 1957, where she was active in various sports. Arlene was manager at the Kansas Department of Human Resources in Arkansas City, KS from the age of 18 until she retired at age 62.
On November 23, 1962 she married James Bates and they had one child, Brett.
Arlene always loved cats, dogs and horseback riding and participated in barrel racing, but the thing that brought her the most joy was her grandchildren. She adored her grandchildren.
Arlene is survived by her son Brett Bates and wife Laina, 3 grandchildren, Haley Wilson and husband Riley, Hannah Bates, and Ty Bates, and one great grandchild, Ryland Wilson, brothers Lars Larson, Jack Larson, Chris Larson and wife Deana, and sister Linda Williams and husband Terry, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Bates, her parents Lester and Apoline Larson, and sister Donna Neal, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 2pm at Central Baptist Church in Ponca City, OK. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Arkansas City, KS. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Crematory, 505 W Grand Ave, Ponca City, OK 74601.
