Obituary for Annette Payne

Annette Payne went to be with her Heavenly Father on August 11, 2014, at 8:20 pm at OU Medical Center with her husband, Mike Payne and Mother, Jackie Rutherford at her side.
Annette was born on September 18, 1962, in Fairfax, OK. She lived there until the age of one, when her family moved to Ponca City. Annette was born to parents Jackie Baugh Carpenter and the late William Carpenter. Jackie was later married to Elbert Rutherford at which he adopted Annette and her two brothers.
Annette received her education from Ponca City Public Schools and Bible Baptist School. She met Mike Payne during childhood and they started dating when she was 13 and then married two weeks after turning 16. They were married for 35 years. Mike and Annette have two daughters, Amanda Payne Barber and Jennifer Payne. They enjoyed yearly vacationing in Branson, MO. They went on many camping trips, fishing trips, and even took the girls hunting. The family loved going to stock car races every Saturday night. Annette was Mike and Amanda’s biggest fan and supporter. She never missed a race that Mike and Amanda raced in. She also enjoyed cheering on the many drivers from Ponca that traveled with them each weekend to race. Annette was known for her fried chicken. Boy was it delicious! If you bought the chicken, Annette would fry it for you! Annette also enjoyed making the girls and their friends matching shorts and bows during their childhood. Some of the girls fondest memories are of her wonderful cooking, amazing baking and sewing.
One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandsons, Tucker Jordan (8), Rowdy Barber (6), and Stockton Payne (3). Her world revolved around those boys.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Payne, two daughters, Amanda and Jennifer, three grandsons, Tucker, Stockton, and Rowdy. Also by her mother Jackie, one brother Eddie Rutherford, her in-laws Larry and Shirley Payne and Evan and Gina Payne. Nephews Jason, Shane and Chris Carpenter, Joey Payne, and Christopher Payne and one niece Vanessa Payne. Also numerous aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her dad William Carpenter and step father Elbert Rutherford; One brother Billy Carpenter, brother-in-law Chris Payne.
Memorial Services will be at Osage Heights Baptist Church, 142 Tapp Rd. Ponca City, OK, at 10:00 am on Saturday August 23, 2014. Lunch at Lake Ponca Shelter House #3 following the services.
