Obituary for Alden Ward

Alden Irvin Ward formerly of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died Friday, March 13, 2015, at his residence in Ponca City, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years.

Alden Irvin Ward was born on January 9, 1937, in Red Rock, Oklahoma, to Fred and Katie (Barnes) Ward. He was the youngest of twelve siblings. He is a member of the Otoe-Missouria Tribe of Oklahoma. He attended Red Rock Public Schools and graduated from Red Rock High School where he lettered in basketball, baseball and track. Following his education he joined the United States National Guard. He married Faye Hall on November 6, 1957, and they settled in Red Rock before moving to Blackwell in the early 1970’s. He worked in various positions at the following locations over the years of his career, the Acme Foundry, the City of Hominy, City of Ponca City, Electron, I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Ponca City, and the Blackwell Cemetery. On June 9, 2013, Faye preceded him in death and he moved to Ponca City. During his younger years he enjoyed fishing, bowling and tinkering with cars. He would buy old cars, refurbish them and put them for sale. In his later years he enjoyed going to the casino and playing bingo.

He is survived by three sons, Ronald Hall and wife Noni, Irvin Ward and wife Lynn and Warren Ward and wife Sue all of Blackwell; three daughters, Teena Stone and campanion Evan Compala of Ponca City, Verona Walton of Blackwell and Valerie Hein and husband Joe of Ponca City; seventeen grandchildren; twenty five great grandchildren; his favorite niece Kissie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; and all of his siblings.

Graveside services are scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Blackwell Cemetery with James W. Roberts officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

A memorial has been established with Hospice of North Central Oklahoma in his memory in c/o Roberts and Son Funeral Home, 120 W. Padon, Blackwell, Oklahoma 74631.
