Adriane Celeste Doles
October 11, 1954 – June 25, 2021
Adriane Celeste Doles, age 66, passed away June 25, 2021 at Integris Hospice House, in Oklahoma City.
Evening prayer services will be held at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center Saturday and Sunday beginning at 7:30 PM with Rev. Jim White of the Ponca Indian United Methodist Church presiding. A celebration of her life will be held on Monday, June 28, 2021 also at the Ponca Tribal Cultural Center starting at noon with the traditional meal and giveaway with Ponca Tribal Chairman Oliver LittleCook officiating. Adriane will be laid to rest at the Ponca Tribal Cemetery following the service.
Adriane was born on October 11, 1954 in Pawnee, Oklahoma to Louis A and Vivian (Warrior) Doles. She grew up on her family’s land and especially enjoyed spending time with her Grandmother Esther Warrior Overland, who also bestowed upon her a Ponca name “Mi’tai”. Adriane was a proud alumni of Chilocco Indian School, having graduated with the class of 1974 and considered those years some of the best of her life. While at Chilocco, Adriane participated on the swim team, worked in the kitchen and print shop, and was an accelerated typist.
Adriane worked as an administrative assistant for the majority of her life and received an Associate of Arts degree from Oklahoma City Community College. She held positions with several attorneys in the Oklahoma City area and worked many years for Indian Health Service retiring in 2001. She also received multiple certifications including medical coding, pharmacy technician, and advanced anatomy and physiology credits. Her enjoyments included bingo, playing pool, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Adriane was a proud member of the Ponca Tribe and enjoyed dancing in the arena and attending the annual celebration. She especially enjoyed dancing to Ponca “wolf songs”. She was a proud descendant of Ponca Chief StandingBuffalo.
Survivors include her two daughters Vivien Madbull and Rosan Primeaux of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Tashina, Joel, Adrianna, Raul, and Khloe; one brother Lewis O. Doles. She also leaves behind her good friends of many years Veronica Talamantes, Susan Primeaux, and Sarah Primeaux. Her Chilocco classmate Tina Youker is the head cook for her services.
Adriane was greeted in heaven by her parents Louis and Vivian, her husband of nearly 40 years Joel Madbull, her grandparents Fritz and Letitia Warrior, Lucy Pappan, Albert and Pearl (Long Bone) Doles, and a host of Aunts and Uncles.
Casketbearers will be Jimmie Sherron Jr., Daniel Sherron, Caleb Sherron, Luke Sherron, Joel L. Madbull, and Houston Stevens. Honorary Casketbearers will be members of the Chilocco Class of 1974.
