Adam Cole

(January 13, 2001 – December 17, 2017)

John Adam Cole of Ponca City, Oklahoma, died early Sunday morning, the result of an automobile accident at the age of 16 years.

John Adam Cole was born on January 13, 2001, in Ponca City to John White and Dedra Ann (McClaflin) Cole. He attended elementary school in Braman before moving to Stephenville, Texas. Upon entering middle school the family returned to Kay County where he attended Newkirk Middle School and was active in football and wrestling. As a ninth grader he transferred to Ponca City High School where he was currently a junior and active in the high school wrestling program. He also attended Pioneer Area Vo-Tech where he was studying auto mechanics. He loved riding four-wheelers, listening to music, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and joking with friends and family.

He is survived by his mother, Dedra Shepherd and husband Johnny of Ponca City; his father, John Cole of Enid; his grandfather, Jerry McClaflin and wife Donna of Braman; great grandmothers, Jovita Snow of Blackwell and Nadine Mills of Tonkawa; a brother, Tyler Shepherd of Ponca City; five sisters, Cheyenne Cole of Ponca City, Kellsie Foreman and husband Alex of Ponca City, Nichole Vantrease of Blackwell, Stephanie Shepherd of Coffeyville, Kansas, and Alicia Clark of California; a niece, Adalynn Foreman of Ponca City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kathy McClaflin; and four great grandfathers.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Thursday, December 21st in the Ponca City Church with Rev. T. D. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Braman Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Frankie Herring, Trent Sidlo, Montana Ingram, Morgan Miller and Cody Miller. Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Ponca City High School Wrestling Team.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.

A memorial has been established at any RCB Bank location for the Dedra Shepherd and John Adam Cole Memorial Fund.
