Barry Jay Chism

June 22, 1964 – November 7, 2015

Barry Jay Chism, resident of Ponca City and former resident of Wagoner, Oklahoma, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was 51 years of age.

Barry was born June 22, 1964 in Riverside, California, the son of Harry Chism and Esin (Darman) Chism. He attended schools in Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Barry had lived in Wagoner, Oklahoma prior to moving to Ponca City in 2014. He had been employed in the construction business with Green Country Interiors of Tulsa.

His enjoyments were attending church, sports, football and shopping. Barry also enjoyed helping with various church activities that included the church food pantry.

He is survived by his mother, Esin Davis of Boca Raton, Florida; his longtime companion, Cheryl Cook of Ponca City; one son, Zachariah Chism; one brother, Gary Chism and wife Adel, of Tulsa, Oklahoma and one sister, Victoria Fisher of Miami, Florida; other extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Harry Chism.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 in the Hope Chapel on the grounds of the Ponca City I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Rev. Dr. David Walcott, pastor of The Gate Church in Wagoner will preside over the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
