August 5, 1935 – January 26, 2017
Norita Lenore Cook, 81, passed away on January 26, 2017 at Ponca City Nursing and Rehab where she has been living for the past four years. Judy, as she was known by many, was born on August 5, 1935 in Rogers, Texas. Norita was the daughter of Hollis and Leona Lunsford.
Norita has resided here in Ponca City for the past nine years after relocating here from Yerington, Nevada to be closer to her family, members.
Norita served as a nurse in her early years before moving into managing stores later in her life. Her last forty years was spent as a devoted wife traveling all over the United States with her late husband D.L. Cook as he was transferred from project to project. They were married for 57 years before his demise in February 2013. They attended Bible Baptist Church in Ponca City before her move into the nursing home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, James Elmer Lunsford, and her husband. Survivors include two children, June and Michael Musick of Lubbock, Texas, and Dewey and Julia Cook of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She had three grandchildren, Jacque and Marcus Daly of San Antonio, Texas and Brendon Ryan Cook of Ponca City, Oklahoma. She has two great grandchildren, Elliott and Parker Daly of San Antonio, Texas.
As was their request in life, she was cremated and there will be no services. Her request was for those that knew her is to celebrate her life as she did and remember her as a fun loving person with a very witty personality.
