Kathryn was born June 30, 1943, in Oklahoma City, OK, and she was baptized August 1, 1943, at Zion Lutheran Church, Oklahoma City, OK. She and her family attended Grace Lutheran Church and School of Oklahoma City. In 1955, Kathryn and her family moved to Norman, OK, where she was confirmed (June 9, 1957, “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life,” Revel 2, 16) at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended Norman Public Schools.

Kathryn was a talented musician and music teacher throughout her life. In Junior High, she played piano, violin, trumpet, and French horn. Her musical talents were displayed at church and the OKC Junior Symphony. In high school, she played with the University of Oklahoma’s Band and Orchestra, and was invited to play in the 1961 Orange Bowl Parade (OU). During her college years, she played French horn in the Marching Band and violin in the Orchestra on a University of Oklahoma Music scholarship. She was also the pipe organist at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, OK.

Kathryn Rachel Ferguson met Donald Gene Ferguson at church, and on May 22, 1964, they were married by Rev. M. Henschel at Trinity Lutheran Church in Norman, OK. They moved to Fort Eustis, Virginia, for military life. She became the head organist at the Memorial Chapel of the Transportation Corps, Fort Eustis, VA. Kathryn was asked to help install and play the dedication on the chapel’s new sixteen ranks Pipe Organ in 1966.

In 1966, Kathryn and Don settled in Ponca City, OK. On January 1, 1967, Kathryn went to work for Continental Oil Company (Conoco) in the Finance Department where she helped the United Way, Accounts Payable/Receivable, and the ConocoPhillips merger. Kathryn developed many lifelong friendships and memories over her 37 ½ year career. She retired from Conoco, Inc. March 1, 2004, at a beautiful gathering in the Marland Mansion.

Over the years, Kathryn has also filled her time with many hobbies and projects. From sewing outfits, cooking family recipes, creating Christmas wreaths, the scrapbooking Queen, van driver to events, party planner, second mom to others, to helping the Card Ministry Program at First Lutheran Church, she has always been present to serve others with kindness.

In 2020, Kathryn’s beloved Donald passed away, and she moved to Madison, WI, where she found happiness in spending time with her family, meeting new friends, and going on local adventures. Her greatest joy, however, was being a caring mother to Keri and John, and a loving grandmother to Barrett and Sophia Ferguson. She cherished every moment with her family and took great pride in their accomplishments, always making time for them whenever possible. Kathryn’s love and compassion for her family, friends, music, and faith was evident in all she did. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Kathryn is survived by: her Daughter, Keri; daughter-In-Law, Cristina; son, John; daughter-In-Law, Stephanie; grandchildren, Barrett and Sophia, and her extended family. Kathryn is preceded in death by: her husband, Donald G Ferguson; father, Karl M Hoffmann; mother, Olga (Zorger) Hoffmann; brother, Karl H Hoffmann; sister, Karllynn E Hoffman, and extended family.
