OBI Blood Drive, Fish Fry June 26

Ponca City Now - June 16, 2015 11:59 am

Facing concerns about keeping the blood supply strong during the July 4 weekend, Oklahoma Blood Institute is urging Ponca City residents to make donation a priority.

An All-American blood drive and Fish Fry, sponsored by Woodlands Christian Church, will occur at 1400 East Hartford, Friday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Two tickets to an Oklahoma City Dodgers baseball game will be awarded to each person who gives.

Each blood donor will also receive two free tickets to the Oklahoma City Zoo and a zoo-themed T-shirt.

Anyone, 16 and older and, generally in good health, can likely donate blood.

“Holidays put incredible stress on the blood supply for patients in our state,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. “We are grateful for all donors who can take time during the holiday week to help Oklahomans who will need blood through the summer.”

Oklahoma Blood Institute volunteer donors provide every drop of blood needed by patients in 158 medical facilities across Oklahoma.

To schedule an appointment to donate blood, call 1-877-340-8777, or visit www.obi.org .
