Newkirk man injured in early morning car accident

The OHP reports that Harold Leven, 66 of Newkirk was injured in a one vehicle accident at around 2:40 Saturday morning.   According to the report from the OHP Leven was traveling eastbound on River Road and crossed the center line and then struck 3 mail boxes and a tree.

Leven was transported by Newkirk EMS to Alliance Health in Ponca City where he was admitted in critical condition with head, trunk internal, trunk external, legs, and arms injuries.  The OHP report indicated the driver was under the influence and alcohol was the probable cause of the accident.   Seat belts were not in use at the time of accident.

The accident was investigated by Trooper Tyler Langston of the Kay/Noble detachment.
