A Newkirk man was injured in an accident sometime late Saturday or early Sunday on Waverly Street at Tower Road, about two miles north of Ponca City.

Brandon Alan Tapp, 32, was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan northbound on Waverly, failed to stop at a stop sign, continued north through a T intersection, went airborne off a dirt embankment and landed in a field, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Tapp was transported by ambulance to the Ponca City Hospital, then transferred to an unknown hospital in Tulsa in serious condition with head and trunk internal injuries.
