New Shoes Given to Pre-K Students

Ponca City Public Schools - January 10, 2023 6:45 am

The Ponca City Free Will Baptist Church recently provided new shoes for all Washington Pre-K students. The project, “Kicks for Kids,” was organized by the Love Ponca crew, a group from the church that works in various ways to provide community support.
In the early fall, Pre-K parents were able to pick out a pair of shoes and select a size. The church collected money with a goal of being able to purchase a new pair for each student. Around 210 students participated and received a gift bag with brand new shoes, a card and a few chocolate treats.
“This was a very large project for the church and a very big ask for church members, but like always this incredibly giving group of people provided the funds for each student who chose to participate,” said Tina Fisher, Washington Pre-K Center Principal. “It was such a joyous scene to see students arrive the day after they got their new shoes with such big smiles and pride. Several students have matching shoes and they loved showing them off. We are always immensely grateful for our dear friends at Ponca City Free Will Baptist Church.”
