New Kay County sales tax increase now in effect

The increased Kay County sales tax, approved by residents last year for Kay County Courthouse improvements and an annex, became effective Jan. 2.   The increase is 0.25%, for a total county sales tax of 0.917%.

With that, Ponca City’s sales tax rate went from 8.667% to 8.917%. This includes the Oklahoma state sales tax of 4.5%, Kay County sales tax of 0.917%, and Ponca City’s city sales tax of 3.5%

Blackwell’s city sales tax is 5.0 %, bringing that town’s total sales tax rate to 10.417%.

Newkirk’s city sales tax is 3.0%, for a total sales tax rate of 8.417%.

Tonkawa’s city sales tax is 4.5%, for a total sales tax rate of 9.917%
