MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) – Authorities in Muskogee have arrested a suspect in the shooting death of a Muskogee resident during a squabble over a pair of sunglasses.

Officials say 65-year-old Kenneth Smith was arrested on a first-degree murder complaint shortly before midnight Sunday. Investigators say Smith allegedly shot 53-year-old Marcus Moore in the chest with a 12-gauge shotgun about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Muskogee Police Officer Lincoln Anderson says witnesses told investigators an altercation occurred between the victim, a relative and Smith over a pair of sunglasses. Smith was told to leave the house but later returned and got into another verbal altercation with Moore.

Anderson says Smith then produced a 12-gauge shotgun and fired once, striking Moore in the chest. Police say they have recovered the shotgun.
