Musical play structure approved for Garfield Park

Ponca City’s Board of Commissioners approved a design and build contract for $56,997 for a musical-themed play structure in Garfield Park, at the northeast corner of South Avenue and Seventh Street. Phillips 66 provided a $60,000 grant for the park.

The remaining $3,000 will be a contingency fund for any unexpected expenses or changes.

The play structures offer all kinds of opportunities for children to create music, Park and Recreation Director Eric Newell said.

The contract is with ACS Playground Adventures and completion is expected about July 3, Newell said. The park will be an accessible playground conforming to ADA standards.
